Our Community Impact: Empowering Locals Through Ethical Ghana Tours
At Sheeda Travel Tribe, we believe that travel should be about more than just visiting new places — it should be an opportunity to connect, learn, and create a lasting impact. Through our Ghana Tours, our goal is to empower communities by supporting local artisans as they preserve Ghana’s magnificent traditional crafts.
We do this by incorporating hands-on cultural experiences into our travel itineraries, which create sustainable employment for locals as they earn a fair and steady income. This in turn allows them to support their families, educate their children, and invest in their futures!
Our travelers don’t just witness craftsmanship from a distance, but they actively engage in the creative process, learning batik techniques, making glass beads, or crafting shea butter products alongside local artisans. Through these immersive experiences, visitors gain a deeper appreciation for Africa’s rich artisanal heritage while directly contributing to the livelihoods of the local community.

Our Work with Global Mamas
We empower communities during our tours through our collaboration with Global Mamas. Since 2003, this initiative has worked to provide a stable income and equitable opportunities for female entrepreneurs in Ghana, uplifting whole families in the process.
During our tours, we engage in workshops and ethical shopping experiences with these artisans, helping to create a sustainable market for handcrafted products. Every purchase made supports fair wages, educational opportunities, and access to healthcare for artisans and their families.
For many travelers, they leave with more than just souvenirs — they take home a renewed understanding of cultural preservation and the power of ethical consumerism. Likewise, the artisans feel valued and recognized for their skills, knowing their work is appreciated on a global scale.

"What Sheeda Travel Tribe understands is that we don't need charity — we need appreciation for our work and fair compensation for our skills. They bring us travelers who become friends, who understand the value of what we create, and who carry our stories home with them. That is true sustainability."
- Abena, local artisan
The Measurable Impact of Our Ghana Tours
Our tour itineraries include batik-making experiences and time for engaging with and purchasing from local entrepreneurs. By doing so, we are:
Providing a consistent income for artisans during both peak and off-peak tourism seasons
Facilitating educational opportunities for over 50 children in communities we visit
Investing back into workshop facilities and equipment to ensure their continuation
Influencing new products inspired by cross-cultural exchange
Meaningful Cultural Exchange Between Travelers and Artisans
What sets Sheeda Travel Tribe apart is our commitment to genuine, reciprocal engagement between our travelers and local artisans. By engaging in workshops with artisans, visitors gain a renewed appreciation for the skills required to create handcrafted items as well as their cultural and economic value.
Equally important, these interactions bring pride to artisans. Traditional craft makers often feel their skills are undervalued in a mass-produced world. When travelers express genuine interest, attempt to master difficult techniques, and then proudly purchase the items they've helped create, it reaffirms the importance of these cultural practices.

"Before this trip, I bought handmade items without understanding the process or the people behind them. After making my own batik fabric alongside Mama Grace, watching her correct my technique with patient humor, and hearing about how this business has put her daughter through nursing school, I'll never look at handcrafted items the same way again."
- Sheila, traveler from the USA
